I lost my My Money…

Question:
I lost my “My Money”(somewhere around 2004 version)  program when I had to do a system configuration.  I have back up files that I cannot open.  I have Windows XP.  Please advise & help me to download/purchase the correct program.

 Thank you,  Donna

    Dear Donna,

If you know the backup password, here is what you should do:

Download and install My Money’s newest version from here:
    http://zpssoft.com/Community/my-money-download/

Once you verify that the new version can run on your new computer, go ahead and upgrade to the full version here:
    http://zpssoft.com/Community/my-money-upgrade/

If you still have your ZPSSoft customer number ( provided to you when you first purchased My Money ) click on the “Existing User” upgrade button ( $5.00 total for internet download will be charged to same Credit Card you used for your first purchase), otherwise, select “New User” ( $9.95 will be charged to Credit Card of your choice).Once you are able to run My Money’s full version, you will be able to open any of your backup files, regardless of My Money version that used to create the backup file.

In case you don’t remember your password, a ZPSSoft specialist can help you recover that password but some charges will apply and you will need to provide evidence that the backup was created by you.

I don’t believe I ever had a password. I have a small address book that I keep all my passwords in - nothing for “My Money”. I don’t have a disk or floppy named “My Money”. I think it may have been an installation that was transferred from another computer, I do not remember purchasing a “My Money”. I do not remember where it came from. So, no password, no product code and as they say no nothing. Now what should I do.

    Thank you for helping.

    Dear Donna,

Before we go any further, I suggest that you install and run ZPSSoft “My Money” newest (free) version.

    http://zpssoft.com/Community/my-money-download/

That way, you will be able to see how our application looks and works. Perhaps files you are referring to are not created by our software.

Your download says “Vista Version”. I do not have “Windows Vista”. Is there any correlation??
I tried to install and the install was stopped and said error.
Did your software ever come already loaded on Gateway or Dell computers. If not then, I might have the wrong company.

    What’s next??

    Dear Donna,

Although named Vista, our software latest version runs on XP computers. Installation was tested to run without problems on clean Windows XP. However, “My Money” does not come pre installed with the new Gateway or Dell computer. If your software comes preloaded, you should have restore disk / partition that can restore all preloaded applications. If you lost your restore media, contact your PC manufacturer.

In this topic, another user is mistakenly asking ZPSSoft support to help with “My Money” files. Turn out that files where created by Microsoft software. Perhaps you should look into this:

    http://zpssoft.com/Community/2008/03/20/can-the-old-data-be-converted/

Again, ZPSSoft’s “My Money” should install and run on Windows XP computers without problems.

Can you please, let me know what error are you receiving during the installation on your XP system?

Ok. I got the newest version loaded but, it says I need to upgrade to full version to load my backup files. But, how do I know that this program will work?? The floppy disk that I have my back up files is titled “My Money Backup d1.mbf”. Does this look like a file that will work with your program??

Thank you again for your help.

    Dear Donna,

From looking into My Money specifications, our software create / open following file extensions :
    .mmbr
    .mmir
    .mmer
    .mmtr
    .mmbr
    .mmbk

where the last one (mmbk) are My Money backup files.

Files with .mbf extension in my knowledge are backup files created by “Microsoft Money” software. This software does come preloaded on some PC’s so you should probably contact your PC manufacturer or Microsoft support…I hope that this helps…
